Research ethics is very important. Always report what you see. One should never manipulate data/results under any circumstances.
Note-keeping.
Be a good note keeper. It will help you in the long run. Notes will help you organize your thoughts. Notes help you remember what you did months ago.
Reserach directions.
- Focus on the most important direction, and try not to be distracted by too much details.
- Keep record of even very small but interesting findings, they could turn out to be something huge.

Journal website
- Subscribe to journals using RSS and read them daily or weekly. The following journals are recommended:
- High-profile journals: Nature, Science, Cell, Nature Genetics, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Methods, Cell Stem cells.
- General audience journals: Nature Communications, PNAS, Science Advances, Elife.
- Preprint: BioRxiv
- For some of papers without subscription, you can try obtaining them using SCI-HUB
You can follow scientists and/or journals on Twitter. They will advertise/retweet/discuss some very interesting papers.
How to become an active scholar in the community?
